Dr. Renée Friedman is a Research Associate of the University of Oxford and a graduate of McGill University and University of California, Berkeley. She has taught at Berkeley and the American University in Cairo, and has worked at many sites throughout Egypt since 1980 including Giza, the Valley of Kings, the Wadi Tumilat, Mandes, and Tell Muqdam. Her special interest is the Predynastic Period and she has had a remarkable career undertaking groundbreaking excavations at the site of Hierakonpolis since 1983.
